This is a rather OT post for this journal, but I thought I would see if anyone wanted to be my cheering squad or carry around a big hitting stick for me. I'm attempting the Couch25k program and created a journal to make myself keep up with it. If any of you would watch it I would be much more likely to succeed. I need some one to hold me accountable.
The journal is
run_mule_run.
If any of you want to do this with me that would be great on so many levels. I hope to use the journal to keep my thoughts in order and track my progress, mentally and emotionally. If I can run a 5k in a month and some change in under 30 minutes I'm going to be a very happy girl.

Date: 2009-05-21 02:21 pm (UTC)Good to hear that some one is having success with their workouts. I tried to start running last summer but it was a 'hey, I think I'm going to run' thing. I had no focus or plan. This year...this year I will complete a 5k.
Did you make the schedule yourself or is it a cookie cutter one like c25k? I feel like I could definitely run faster/farther than the program is telling me to right now. I'm holding myself back from jumping ahead.

Date: 2009-05-21 06:18 pm (UTC)I've been starting off by going to the gym twice a week. I know that it doesn't sound like much, but considering that I've never been in good shape...
The workouts are short, too, only about 15 minutes each. But I make those minutes count. I started off by telling myself "either make it to 1 mile or 15 minutes, whichever comes SECOND". Then it was "1.5 miles or 15 minutes, whichever comes SECOND". That mentally has definitely helped.
I can't wait until I move off-campus. I'll be right next to the apartment complex's gym, so I want to bump it up to 3 days per week, and 20-30 minute workouts every day. I'd like to get to 1.5 miles in 15 minutes, maybe even 2 miles in 20 minutes, by the end of the summer.
